A highwayman comes riding, riding; a highwayman comes riding.
He arrives at an inn and taps at the windows with his whip for the daughter of the landlord, Bess.
Tim the ostler, who is also in love with Bess, sees this and overhears their conversation. He informs the redcoats that the highwayman is going to come back to the inn tomorrow at midnight.
Upon arriving, the redcoats gag and bind Bess to use as bait. Well shes is bound, she finds the trigger to the gun tied next to her. She hears the horse of the highwayman galloping closer and closer to the inn. She fires the gun to warn him, killing self.
After hearing the news of Bess's death, the highwayman rides back to the inn, where he is shot and killed by the redcoats.
Still on a winter's night, some say that when the is in the trees and the moon a ghostly galleon, a highwayman comes riding-riding-riding.
