On the Manor Farm, Old Major gathers everyone for a meeting and tells them he will die soon and it is their responsibility to chase Mr. Jones away and claim the farm. Two pigs, Napolean and Snowball, take leadership and establish rights.
On the newly named "Animal Farm," Napolean and Snowball have taken over, learned to read and write, and maintained the food supply.
After all of the animals thought everything was going well, Snowball and Napolean got into an argument and Napolean responded to it by having his dogs chase Snowball. Napolean then completely takes over the farm and is afraid someone will overthrow him.
Napolean begins to blame Snowball for bad things that have happened at the farm, even after he was chased away. Napolean begins to get frustrated and blames animals for unrealistic things. He chases many away using his dogs and some get hurt.
The animals start to figure out that they would rather have Mr. Jones as a leader. Everything slowly gets worse and worse and realize that the Seven Commandments have been secretly rewritten.
The animals are no longer equal. The pigs, also known as the leaders, adapt human qualities similar to Mr. Jones and the animals can no longer tell them apart.
