  • Wow the Mexican desert is really hot and beautiful
  • Zebulon Pike was a American explorer who was ordered by Thomas Jefferson to explore the source of the Mississippi's water supply shortly after the purchase of the Louisiana territory. Zebulon was born on 1799 in New Jersey and was the son of Zebulon Pike senior and Issabella Brown Pike.  Pike at the age of 15 went to the military and served at many posts and was promoted lieutenant. Pike was a self taught  mathematician and a military strategy. He also thought himself Spanish.

  • Zebulon Pike explored many regions of the Louisiana Purchase and would later in his lie come in conflict with the Spanish for exploring in some parts of their territory
  • Why is Zebulon Pike important 
  •  Pike explored many places on the Louisiana Purchase land such as Little Falls Minnesota and the Mississippi. But did not have many success even though he accurately mapped the region because his did no find the source of the Mississippi. He also explored eastern part of Nebraska. He also explored Kansas the Arkansas river and many parts Colorado and some parts of Mexico and the Rio Grand.

  • Zebulon Pike's exploration lasted form 1805 and lasted to 1806 because he got captured by the Spanish when he was exploring their land. The Spanish believed that he was a spy was let go from their captivity in 1807. He also became really good friends with the local governor named Joaquin del Rael Alencaster and his captor Bartolone Fernandez 
  • Zebulon Pikes exploration is really important because the US made maps about the places he explored and they  learnt many things about the land that they had bought from the French and also made treaties with the Natives.
