This is the first murder trial I have been involved in, and I don't think i realised how repugnant I would find it. Nor how difficult I would find liaising with the client
I think what is most important, Lucy, is that you remember that even the most guilty and abhorrent of people have the right to have their day in court, and be represented by competent people no matter the outcome
You can't Lucy, you just understand that we must ensure the Prosecution can prove beyond reasonable doubt that our client committed the crimes they are accused of
But John, how do you separate what they have done and what your values are
Only knowing the bare essentials, I would say you have adhered to our ethical requirements, but we can always prepare you better for the next one
