Storyboard Text

  • Yeah, I think so. It’s all red and itchy! Yesterday it was just on my face but now it’s on my arms, too!
  • Are you ok? You should go see Mom and Dad. Is that a rash on your face?
  • There is no specific treatment for measles. Just take it easy and keep her at home. Make sure she gets a lot of fluids! She should be feeling better in around 10 days. Oh, and make sure to give your kids the MMR vaccine to prevent measles.
  • Your temperature is 103 degrees!
  • Emily, you need a doctor. All day you’ve had no appetite or energy!
  • Emily has a viral infection called measles. She probably contracted it when another child with measles sneezed on her.
  • I’m glad you brought her in! People can often mistake measles for the flu, because of the sneezing, coughing, and runny nose that usually occur. You told me she’s also been experiencing aches and pains, which are normal as well. Is there anything else, Emily?
  • Yeah. My eyes feel all watery, and light makes them hurt.
  • Hmm, yes, your eyelids do look swollen and red. Another symptom of measles.
  • Doctor, what should we do to treat this?
  • There is no specific treatment for measles. Just take it easy and keep her home. Make sure she gets lots of fluids! You should also give your kids the MMR vaccine to prevent measles in the future.
  • Thank you, Doctor! We will!
