  • *Atticus wakes Scout and Jem up in the middle of the night because it is important.*
  • "Is it morning?" (Lee 91).
  • "Baby get up. Hurry hon" (Lee 91).
  • "Come down from there, Dick! The stairs are going! Get outa there, Mr. Avery!" (Lee 93).
  • *Everyone in the neighborhood has come out to watch Miss Maudie's house burn. The adults have taken most of her furniture out of her house to save her most important belongings.*
  • "Probably the flue in the kitchen. I kept a fire in there last night for my potted plants" (Lee 97).
  • "Do you have any idea to how this whole thing has started?"
  • "Don't worry Scout, it ain't time to worry yet" (Lee 94). *Jem sees Atticus standing calmly.* "See there, he's not worried yet" (Lee 94).
  • "Our house!" "The Tom Swift book, it ain't mine, it's Dill's..." (Lee 93 and 94).
  • *Boo Radley comes out unnoticed and puts a blanket on Scout to keep her warm.*
  • *Jem and Scout see some of the fire rolling off of Miss Maudie's house onto the roof of their own house.*
