Brian tries to kill a foolbird to eat it. But he thinks that he could not do it, and he sits down against a tree and there is one right in front of him.
When he decides he is doing it wrong he got up and took two steps then almost stepped on one of them when it flies up and he catches a little glimpse of if flying in front of the sun. He sees the shape of it, it looks like a flying pear to him
Brian realizes the secret to catching one is not looking for the color it, it is looking for the shape. Later Brian also realizes that he has to walk sideways to get one so it won't see him.
Finally Brian catches one with his fish spear. He takes it to the shelter and starts plucking the feathers and peeling off the skin.
When the skin was gone the insides fell out the back end, he was in a cloud of raw odor.
He took the bird outside to wash it off in the lake, after that he cut off the head and the feet. then he cooked it on the fire and rotated it to cook it evenly, next he ate it.
