Mitosis and Meiosis

Mitosis and Meiosis

Storyboard Text

  • HI I'M CLARENCE AND I'M HERE TO EXPLAIN TO YOU THE 2 TYPES OF CELL DIVISION.
  • HOW DO CELLS DIVIDE?
  • DIVISION
  • parent cell
  • DNA replicates
  • 2 DAUGHTER CELLS
  • MITOSIS
  • DURING MITOSIS, A CELL DUPLICATES ALL OF ITS CONTENTS, INCLUDING ITS CHROMOSOMES, AND SPLITS TO FORM TWO IDENTICAL DAUGHTER CELLS.
  • BECAUSE THIS PROCESS IS SO CRITICAL, THE STEPS OF MITOSIS ARE CAREFULLY CONTROLLED BY CERTAIN GENES.
  • MEIOSIS
  • 4 DAUGHTER CELLS
  • PARENT CELL
  • DNA REPLICATES
  • DIVISION
  • 2 DAUGHTER CELLS
  • MEIOSIS IS A PROCESS WHERE A SINGLE CELL DIVIDES TWICE TO PRODUCE FOUR CELLS CONTAINING HALF OF THE ORIGINAL AMOUNT OF GENETIC INFORMATION.
  • THESE FOUR DAUGHTER CELLS ONLY HAVE HALF OF THE NUMBER OF CHROMOSOMES OF THE PARENT CELL - THEY ARE HAPLOID.
  • THANK YOU FOR LISTENING.<3
