Gerald Gault (15) was accused and arrested for "lewd phone calls". He was taken by the police and was not given any Due process. His parents were not notified, his trial was not public, he had no jury, and none of the proper court procedures were followed. He was not given any rights because he was underage. They appealed to the Arizona courts but were turned away. They finally took the case to the Supreme Court in in 1967
