Storyboard Text

  • Northern Free States: Why did they oppose it?
  • These darn Southerns are really getting under my skin!
  • Oh my goodness I know! They just want this Compromise to spread slavery and benefit themselves.
  • Northern Free States: Beliefs about Congressional Power?
  • Aww we are just like the amazing federalists.
  • Yahh! Federal government over state government!
  • Northern Free States: Fears about the Compromise?
  • Just seeing this slavery makes me sick.
  • I know and I'm afraid that the Missouri Compromise will spread slavery.
  • The Northerns opposed the Missouri Compromise because they didn't want to spread slavery.
  • Southern Slave States: Why did they support it?
  • I'm the North and I'm afraid that there will be a lot of states that will become slave states
  • I'm the South and I'm happy that we have a 50/50 chance of a state becoming a slave state
  • The Northern states believe that the Congress should decide the fate of slavery in new states.  They were born from the ashes of the Federalists who believed in federal government over state government.
  • Southern Slave States: Beliefs about states' rights?
  • Those Northerns are so stupid. They need to realize that state government is more important then federal government.
  • The Northerns feared that the Compromise would spread slavery.
  • Southern Slave States: Fears about the Compromise?
  • Dude once this law is passed it will mark one step closer to the abolishment of slavery.
  • The Southerns supported the Compromise because they have a 50/50 chance of a state becoming a slave state. If they don't get their way they can just secede.
  • The Southerns come from the early Republican party that believed that state's rights were more important then the federal government.  They also believed that the federal government had no right to regulate or ban slavery in any way.
  • I completely agree and slaves are just property so they have no right to try and stop slavery. It is just business.
  • The Southerns feared that the Compromise was the first step in ending slavery because it was limiting slavery.
  • Look on the bright side at least the Compromise is only limited slavery.
