Act 1Setting: Athens Outside of Theseus's Office
A noble Athenian man, Egeus, is upset with his daughter, Hermia, because she doesn't want to marry the man of his choice, Demetrius, and instead, Lysander. Egeus goes to present to Theseus, the Duke of Athens to help force Hermia to marry Demetrius.
Inside Theseus's Office
Patience Theseus, we will be wedded soon enough.
I can't believe our wedding is in four days!
Later that day....
My daughter Hermia, doesn't want to marry Demetrius, the man I have chosen for her to marry!
Hermia has four days to decide to either marry Demetrius, become a nun or die.
After, outside of the palace
Whats the matter Hermia?
True love never did run smooth. We can run away in the night and get married outside of Athens!
I can't marry you Lysander!
Helena, Hermia's friend enters....
What's wrong Helena?
Demetrius loves you and not me!
Don't worry, Hermia and I are running away to elope outside of town!
Helena plotting revenge....
Why can't I have my happy ending? I know, I will tell Demetrius about their plan to run away so that they don't get to have their happy ending either
