How not to be a hero The story of Odysseus's failures Camden Howard
Odysseus Led half of us on to the Cyclops's extremely dangerous island just because he was curious. He ended up getting 6 of us killed, and getting all of us cursed because he had to yell his name and island name to the cyclops, which enabled him to have Poseidon curse all of us. If he had had some self control and let us stay on that nice island across from the cyclops island, then maybe we wouldn't of all died from a curse.
Odysseus should've wanted to go home but he didn't stay loyal to home and probably would've stayed with Circe if we didn't remind him that we need to go home. We ended up staying away from home for and extra year, and I bet if we had left as soon as our men were turned back to normal then we wouldn't have to go to the underworld and back. He overall kept us away from for his own selfish reasons.
Circe told Odysseus the possible paths he could take and gave him advice, he only choose to tell us about the sirens which he really wouldn't have much of a choice to tell us unless he wanted all of us including him dead. He also choose to get out his armor against Scylla which made the crew aware that he knew about what was going to happen and didn't tell us, which caused great mistrust which was the reason that all of us got killed after eating Helios's cattle against Odysseus advice.
While Odysseus had a few 'victories', like with the lotus eaters when he didn't leave the three crew members he had scout the island, any good leader wouldn't leave his crew. Odysseus got all of us killed because of his selfishness, if he hadn't been so self-concerned then we all would still be alive and would've been home a lot sooner.
