In the storyboard, Vladek and his son, Artie, are having another discussion about his life story during the Holocaust. Shortly after they begin to speak, Vladek's phone rings from the hallway (other room). He goes to check on who's calling, thinking it's just a random number. He picks up the phone and Mr. Ilzecki is on the other line, informing Vladek of something he'd never thought he would ever hear. Mr.Ilzecki tells Vladek that he is being forced to go to service again for another war that is happening. This puts Vladek in a state of shock and worries, for he is too old to do so anyway, and he has bad memories of the past during war. As he panics, he gets a heart attack from all of the stress and passes out onto the floor. Artie soon sees his father on the ground and proceeds to take him to get medical assistance/attention.
While talking to dad, more about his life stories, Vladek gets a call from the other room
After over the war, I Met a recruiter nice who's job offered to me and...
Didn't hear me you? I said that...
That thought you hold. I'll be back.
So what happened in 1950, after the war was over?
Vladek went to get the blaring phone from the other room, thinking it was just an old friend from the war...
It was someone he knew from the war, but it wasn't a friend exactly...
Hello? This Who is?
This is Mr. Ilzecki. I am here to inform you of something you might not like
YOu are being assigned back into war in a week from now.
What you do Mean?
I mean you're going back to war, Mr. Vladek. You are needed at the battlefront.
This can't right be! I can't now go!
Vladek frantically freaks out in the room, remembering the past
I cannot back go. I can't it do! Can't I... Aaggh. My...heart...Artie, my...pills...
He was so worried and scared that he had a heart attack
Before Vladek could he respond, he fell to the ground unconscious, but not dead. Artie soon found him and rushed him to medical assistance.
Don't worry Dad, I'll get help soon. Just relax, ok?
