Storyboard Text

  • I have a test about the Cold War tomorrow...
  • The Arms Race was a competition between the U.S. and the Soviet Union; both wanted to gain an advantage over the other. The weapons and technology developed made an actual war possible.
  • And here we are developing the nuclear bomb...
  • "It is perfectly obvious that when nations compete to increase their military might, they danger or war becomes greater, not lesser" (Khrishchev, 1956).
  • In his speech, Khrushchev condemned the U.S., and accused the democratic nation of preparing for war.
  • Through the Marshall Plan, the United States helps rebuild Europe, with the intention of creating new allies that will side againts communism.
  • “It is logical that the United States should do whatever it is able to do to assist in the return of normal economic health in the world, without which there can be no political stability and no assured peace" (Marshall, 1947).
  • “The basic decision was to depend primarily upon a great capacity to retaliate, instantly, by means and at places of our choosing" (Dulles, 1954).
  • The Dulles Strategy permitted the American govenrnment to dismantle the international security systems, for it's new protection relied on their capacity to retaliate.
  • That was a helpful dream! I hope I do well on tomorrow's test.
