  • Will you help me? Will you do something with me? Will you?
  • O think, Antigone; we are women; it is not for us To fight against men;
  • Parados
  • In angry dispute his voice was lifted against us, Like a ravening bird of pray he swooped around us.
  • Scene 1
  • What! Who dared to do it?
  • It's this sir. The corpse ... someone has just Buried it and gone.
  • Antigone and Ismene learn of Creon's intentions to leave Polynices unburied and after counselling with each other Antigone goes to help her brother and Ismene says she will not defy the king.
  • Scene 2
  • We have a duty to the dead
  • The Chorus chants to gods and tell the story of Polynices and his invasion of Thebes.
  • Scene 3
  • The people of Thebes! Since when do I take orders from the people of thebes?
  • Isn't that rather a childish thing to say.
  • Creon issues the decree the Polynices is to be left unburied, later one of the sentry's come to tell him that someone has buried him and Creon tells the sentry to find who did it.
  • Scene 4
  • The Sentry brings Antigone to Creon where she admits to the thing she as done and that it was the right thing to do, then ismene comes and she says that she was part of it but Antigone denies it and Ismene tries to save Antigone for the sack of Haemon Creon's son.
  • Who Knows? In the country of the dead that my be the law.
  • Not to give equal honor to good and bad.
  • Creon and his son haemon Have an argument about what is right and wrong and what should be done with Antigone
  • No. I am King, and responsible only to my self
  • You'd be an excellent king - on a desert island.
  • Antigone anticipates her death while the Chorus wonders if she is condemned because of her fathers sins.
  • My father - the thought that sears my soul- the unending burden of the house of Labdacus.
