Storyboard Text

  • Contrast and Contradictions
  • Wow, this usually never happens!
  • Aha Moment
  • Why did I stay here?  Ruth and I should've ran away from this place!
  • Words of The Wiser
  • You may never know, Isabel.
  • Madam gave Isabel a night off and made her a meal, on top of her night off. This contradicts Madam's actions because earlier in the book, Madam never gave Isabel a night off of work.
  • Tough Questions
  • Are the British joking about this?
  • Isabel looked back when she and Ruth arrived at New York and figured out that she and Ruth should’ve ran away instead of staying at New York, which they chose to do.
  • Again and Again
  • Come home Ruth, please!
  • You may never know who your friends really are.
  • Memory Moment
  • I wish Becky was here.
  • She asked herself if the British really would free the slaves, including her, that escaped from New York and made their way to Virginia.
  • Isabel keeps on remembering Ruth.
  • She was introducing the soldiers that took refuge in Madam’s house. She then remembered Becky and how she longed for her to come back to Madam’s house.
