  • The Whiskey Tax was a tax protest in the U.S that was the first tax imposed by the Federal Goverment
  • It was passed cause we are in debt from the Revolutionary War and we are using this tax to pay for it.
  • Why was this Whiskey Tax passed, Sir?
  • George Washington and Alexander Hamilton proposed it
  • Well who proposed this tax?
  • Them farmers sure are mad though, aren't they?
  • Yes, they feel like this tax is an abuse of federal power hurting people who use there crops to make a profit to survive.
  • Yes, he is leading almost 13,000 people in a militia force up to Pennsylvania where it happened at!!
  • Some whiskey rebels the other day, set fire to the regional tax supervisor's house on fire to protest. Have you heard what George Washington is going to do?
  • Couple Month/Years Later
  • Well, Thomas Jefferson is going to repeal the excise tax on whiskey!!
  • Yes i heard, Also George Washington pardoned all the guys who where found guilty for treason.
  • What's that?
  • It shows that our nascent U.S can survive a challenge from the federal authority, but also that the Government has a lot of power.
  • Well, you know what is good about all this?
