A mother once had three pups. After they were big enough to hunt, men showed up at their den. The men captured the mother and 2 pups, but one pup died.
The dogs were put in cages and drove to a place far from their den. These men called this place their home. The biggest dog's name was Toby, and he loved it at home.
There were lots of other dogs at home, and Toby loved it there. As he was getting older, mother tried to open the gate to escape and one day, she did. She ran out and the owners went to look for her. They could not find her.
The next day, the police showed up and said they received a report that the men had too many dogs. The police took the dogs away from home and went to a new building.
Toby was taken into an office with bright lights and the sharp smell of chemicals. He was then examined by doctors. He was too old to be adopted, so they put him in a room with other dogs.
After some time in the room, Toby started to feel tired because the room had become very hot. Even though he tried to stay awake, he found himself flopping down on the floor and panting for air. Toby felt at ease. He let the waves of peace overtake him, and he was gone.
