In this scene Gregor awakes from a slumber to find himself transformed into an insect. I believe Kafka chose this creature because of his own feelings of depression and inner turmoil and the creature's status parallels Kafka's feelings of inferiority.
"Oh no, I Gregor Samsa, have been transformed into a monstrous insect"
In this scene Gregor scares his mother with his physical appearance and now his sister runs and slams the door on Gregor to help their mother. This is significant because it has another representation of the symbol of the door. The door has played a major role in this story as standing for a barrier between Gregor and the rest of the world whether it be physical or existential.
I just want to help my ill mother
GREGOR! Go away you are scaring mother
