  • To Kill A Stereotype
  • Scout
  • Atticus
  • Blacks
  • Scout is stereotyped by a lot of people for portraying a tomboy.
  • You are a disgusting, little impolite girl
  • Atticus is also stereotyped for being a terrible father, for not teaching his kids anything, and not making Scout act like a proper woman.
  • In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee conveys stereotypes through Scout, Atticus, and blacks.
  • An even broader and bigger group that gets stereotyped in the book is black, just for being black.
  • “We decided that it would be best for you to have some feminine influence. It won’t be many years, Jean Louise, before they become interested in clothes and boys-“(Lee 170)
  • There are examples of stereotypes everywhere
  • Stereotypes
  • “If Uncle Atticus lets they run around with stray dogs, that’s their own business, like grandma says, so it aint their fault. I guess it aint their uncle Atticus is a nigger-lover besides, but I’m here to tell they it certainly does mortify the rest of the family.” (Lee ).
  •  “Nigger lover is just one of those terms that don’t mean anything… It’s hard to explain- ignorant trashy people use it when they think somebody is favoring Negroes over and above themselves. It’s slipped into usage… when they want a common, ugly term to label somebody.” (Lee).
  • Everyone is stereotyped for their race.
