  • Anagnorisis
  • An example of pride from John Proctor would be when Thomas Putnam wants him to sign his name confessing that he is a witch. He does not want the people to see his name damned by the church.
  • Nemesis
  • His reversal of fortune is when he is put in jail for contempt of the court. From here, it only went downhill.
  • Catharsis
  • The critical discovery he makes is that his wife, Elizabeth Proctor, is pregnant.  That means she would be safe until the baby is born.
  • John’s unavoidable fate is when he is ultimately hanged in front of everyone.
