Battle of Saratoga
Signing of The Declaration of Independence
The Olive Branch Petition
The Battle of Saratoga was the key turning point in the revolution. In this battle the colonists had the upper hand on England. The colonists had the upperhand because it took months to years for the British soldiers to get supplies from England which greatly benefited the colonists.
The signing of The Declaration of Independence was the formal good bye to England. It declared that the colonists were free from the rule of the king. It was signed by various American icons such as Thomas Jefferson and John Adams.
The Olive Branch Petition was made and signed by the Second Continental Congress. It was the colonists final attempt at making peace with England after the fighting had already started. When the King of England was given this petition he rejected it and sent back to the colonists so they knew he rejected their peace offering.
