Hi, I am Fred Johnson and this is my journal. I live in Indian Territory with my sister and mom, but I am not Indian. My dad doesn't live with us because he helps forge steel for the railroads up north. It is a rough life for people in Indian Territory becasue people are recovering from the Civil War. Many people are rushing into Indian Territory because of the railroads being built around us.
Some more issues in Indian Territory is overcrowding, and many people have leaned towards stealing to support themselves. However, there are some good things happening in Indian Territory, like the change from a subsistence economy to a market economy. In my opinion the market economy is better becasue it can bring in more money, offers more oppurtunities, and can prepare you better in the future.
Every morning I get up and walk to school. My school is pretty far away so it takes a while to get there. Also, there is a school right next to my house but my family is not wealthy enough for me to attend. So, every morning I walk past it where I see Indian kids who are like royalities compared to us. Also, there is a mean landlord who yells at kids for walking on the grass.
I go to a subscription schools, where there is one teacher for all grades. I do not like my school because the teacher has no idea what she is doing, it is very crowded, there are diseases, and I just wish I could go to the school next to my house.
