A long time ago in the country of Nepal, a significant baby boy was born on the eighth day of April in the garden of Lumbini park.
Queen Maya and King Suddhodhana did not have children for twenty years into their marriage. One night Queen Maya had a vivid dream about a baby elephant, holding a white lotus flower in its trunk. It went around her three times, entering her womb through her right side. Few months after having the dream, Queen Maya became pregnant. According to the custom she went to her hometown to give birth to the child.
On her way to her hometown, Queen Maya had stopped to take a walk under the Sal tree. While there she had given birth holding onto the Sal branch. The birth was painless. The new born was fully healthy, he was strong enough to stand and walk. He was filled with joy and could already start talking. Every where he stepped had grown a lotus flower. He was named Gautama Siddhartha "he who has accomplished his goals" as he would no longer be reincarnated.
