1595: first Dutch expedition set to Indonesia led by Cornelis de Houtman

1602: Dutch Est India Company (VOC) was founded
1670-1900: All of Indonesia brought under one government
The Dutch set sail to Asia and eventually stopped at Indonesia, to collect the luxuries and spices from their land. The spices were used later for cash crops.
WWII 1942: The Japanese attack the West Indian Company.
The Dutch cooperated with the U.S East India company to create VOC. The company wanted to collect various spices like cinnamon, pepper and nutmeg.
March 9th 1942: Japan conquers Dutch West Indies
The Dutch founded a spice trade route between the Indonesians and Dutch. The english also made a trade route that threatened the Dutch and East Indies.
VOC starts to decline and gets bankrupt

The empire of Japan wanted to conquer the Dutch West Indian Company because they had an abundance of spices and resources.
During the war, the allied forces did not try to retake the islands. About 1000 Japanese soldiers left their units and asserted themselves in local communities which left the Ditch West Indian Company weak andhard for them to gain more spices.
VOC was slowly declining and they eventually became bankrupt, which made Indonesia an independent country, no longer a colony of Dutch.
