John Lewis's trip to New York really opened his eyes, showing him how different it was just a few hours away. In this picture it shows a city, which is much different than what he is use to in montgomery AL.
This part stood out too me because, in his picture in the book it shows two white men shaking hands, after winning the case against lawyers of emmett till a young black male who was killed.
In one of the first scenes he is saying goodbye to Rosa Parks. Which in this scene shows her famous bus stop when they tried to force Rosa to move to the back of the bus and she refused.
In the book it shows this to represent the white people hanging the black people and the racism that goes along with what is going on in our nation. And representing how John Lewis viewed racism.
In this book it just showed a hand trying to reach out and is shaking. But you get what he is saying , that the hand is desperate for money and needs the money very bad.
In the book it shows the arm wrapped up in a bandage with no hand. How he views war is people losing their lives and limbs dying for our country that is still not changing, dying for s country that is fighting itself
