  • "No taxation without representation"
  • In 1765 The Stamp Act is passed with imposed a tax on all American Colonists. It required the colonists to pay a tax on every piece of paper they used.
  • After the Stamp act was passed it caused a boom of protests and riots in the 13 colonies.
  • For the colonists against the Stamp Act "No taxation without representation" became the rallying cry.
  • Congress held a meeting with delegates from the nine colonies. They created a list of grievances, and petitioned the king, and parliament to repeal the Stamp Act.
  • The colonists rejoiced when the Stamp Act was repealed in 1766.
  • Parliament also declared power over the colonies in the Declaratory Act the same day as the Stamp Act was Repealed.
