In 1765 The Stamp Act is passed with imposed a tax on all American Colonists. It required the colonists to pay a tax on every piece of paper they used.
After the Stamp act was passed it caused a boom of protests and riots in the 13 colonies.
For the colonists against the Stamp Act "No taxation without representation" became the rallying cry.
Congress held a meeting with delegates from the nine colonies. They created a list of grievances, and petitioned the king, and parliament to repeal the Stamp Act.
The colonists rejoiced when the Stamp Act was repealed in 1766.
Parliament also declared power over the colonies in the Declaratory Act the same day as the Stamp Act was Repealed.
