  • The pope decreed that only he can appoint bishops, and he can remove kings.

  • The pope later excommunicated Henry as the fighting got worse.

  • Later In the fight the people started to side with the pope.
  • Henry went to apologize because he knew he was loosing, but to do so he had to wait in the snow for three days.

  • In 1122 after Henry and Gregory died the king and pope made an agreement. It allowed the pope to be the only person to choose a bishop, but the king can lure them to being loyal to him.
