  • Yeah, I did. I also have the answer to that question. Pay attention. There is only several points you have to keep in mind.
  • Did you study for the quiz on water treatment plants for today? I was not able to find the answer to question 2, "Why is it important to correctly measure the chemicals used in water treatment plants?"
  • As we know, the purpose of water treatment plants is to remove and purify the water from materials and chemicals that are harmful to our health. This allows it to be used safely for human consumption and usage.
  • Okay, I got that. So, move on.
  • Okay, so in order to treat the water properly and rid specific substances found in a water supply, correct measurement and balance of chemicals is important to make this possible.
  • What happens if the measurement is incorrect?
  • Hold your horses! I'm telling you. Anyhow, keep in mind that whatever chemicals are added to the water, they shall enter the water supply we use. So, if the correct amount is not used, the water may not be safe for us to use and instead of removing a contaminant, we are introducing another.
  • What else could happen?
  • Lastly, chemicals that are in the water supply are also released into the ecosystem of other species. Too much of these chemicals can affect the health of the aquatic life, birds and animals drinking from the water body. This reduces their population and creates unhealthy conditions for them and us.
  • Yep, that's right! Now, let's get ready for lunch.
  • Sounds simple enough. Correct measurement of chemicals in water treatment plants is important to ensure we get purified and safe water, as well as other living things.
