• One Day, Murphy saw the bell. He wanted to steal the bell, but he did not know how high up it was. He was ﻿standing 10 feet away from the steps and at an angle of 70˚.  He finds that the tan (70) • 10 = 27.4. So the bell is 27.4 feet up.
• Murphy then saw the Star of David, and he wanted to steal it. But in order to get the star, he had to find the angle of elevation from him to the star. The star was 19 feet from the bottom of the ground﻿ and he was 13 feet from being directly under the star. He found that tan-1 (19/13) = 55.6˚
• Then, Murphy walked by a mosque, and he wanted to climb to the top of it. The mosque was ﻿30 feet high and the angle from him to the top was 50˚. In order for him to get to the top, he needed to know how far away he was from being perpendicular to the very top of the mosque. He found that 30/tan(50) = 25.2, so he was 25.2 feet away from being directly under the top of the mosque.
• He was later sentenced to jail for stealing the bell and the star and for climbing the mosque﻿
• He had 10 years of jail time
