There was a war fought over a land called the Ohio River Valley by the French (and Native Americans) against the British. The British won, but were put in debt.
Boston Tea Party
After the war against the French, the british were in debt. They decided that the best way to earn their money back was to tax the colonies. They started to tax the colonies with the Townshend act, stamp act, tea act.
People started to riot over the unfair taxes, and a crowd grew. It continued to grow until the British soldiers shot the crowd and killed 5 people.
Start of the Revolutionary War
Enraged by the British, a group of patriots dressed as Indians called the Sons of Liberty, boarded a boat containing crates of tea from England. They dumped them into the Boston Harbor.
The Intolerable Acts punished the Bostonians for the Boston Tea Party. It barricaded the Boston harbor to stop trade, and took some control away from the Massachuchets government.
We must punish the colonists. Barricade the harbor and take away a lot of the control away from Massachuchets.
The reaction to the Intolerable Acts was the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the beginning of the American Revolution. The first battles were the battles of Lexington and Concord.
