Maa-nulth Final agreement
This storyboard does not have a description.
I am the leader of the Maa-nulth and I would like to come to an agreement about a new treaty
Oh yes, a treaty will resolve long-standing issues, regarding undefined Aboriginal rights and title, and bring certainty and economic benefits not only to the Maa-nulth First Nations, but also to the region.
We would like to have 24,550 acres of land in the North Western and South Western parts of Vancouver Island and have law making authority
As long as we can come to some terms about what can happen on the land we will be more than happy to allow you to have this land
We also will build framework that will fit under the Canadian constitution, but mostly we would like to have areas of authority include the delivery of health services, adoption, education in kindergarten to grade 12, and public works.
We would also like to have a role with respect to the manner and extent to which Maa-nulth First Nations culture will be reflected in the management of federal and provincial parks.
Of course, we would like to help you as much as possible in hopes to restore your culture.
We would like the people of Canada to still have public access to this land for things such as hiking or canoeing
Me and my people would be more than happy to allow them to continue doing their outdoor activities on the land
We will help fund you and your peoples projects and services, but we would like to be able to retain authority over endangered species and retain authority for overall management of parks
Yes we would be more than willing, as long as we can be able to cooperatively manage and plan Pacific Rim Park.
