The story begins with LeBron James leaving the Cavaliers around 2011 and joining the Miami Heat with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. They would go onto go to four straight NBA Finals and win two championships for the ball club. "After he left, Cleveland was in shambles, and we knew we had to try and get him back once his contract was up."
After the departure of LeBron, the Cavs went through the worst four years of their franchise history, only winning 97 out of 328 games that they played through that stretch. But in the time of those hard 4 years... they were able to acquire important assets such as Kyrie Irving, Tristian Thompson, and other important role players to try to convince The King to come back home. "Durring one all star weekend, LeBron stated that Kyrie Irving would be the best PG in the leauge."
After the long four years of LeBron's contract coming to an end, it was time for him to make a decision. There were a few teams that Lebron's staff said they were taking into consideration. These teams being the Bulls with D-Rose, the Knicks with Carmelo Anthony, returning to the heat, or going back to his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers. "It was between us, the knicks, the bulls, and him returning to the heat, and he chose returning."
As we all know, he chose to go home to the team that drafted him in 2003. After hearing this the Cavs had to take action to put themselves in the best position to trade their unexperienced young players for veteran assets such as Kevin Love, JR Smith, Channing Frey, and Iman Shumpert. The Cavs were ready to recreate the winning culture that follows LeBron James around the league. "Trading Andrew Wiggins to the TWs for K Love was a good move."
Unfortunately after a 53-29 record in the first season, and an impressive playoff run, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Golden State Warriors led by Stephen Curry 4-2. This was because Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love suffered injuries prrior in the playoffs, so it was only LeBron and a team of scrappy role players against the impressive team from the Bay Area. It was a quiet plane ride home. The next year was a different story, however. The Cavs knew they had to come back and win it for Cleveland. "They knew they had to come back better than before."
They finished an impressive regular season run, but so did the Warriors with Curry. The Warriors had the best NBA Season record yet, going an impressive 73-9. Also that year Curry became the NBA's first voted unanimous MVP. Both teams made impressive playoff runs following the regular season, and met up in the finals again. However the Warriors went up 3-1, but this didn't stop the Cavs. The team didn't give up, and they came back to upset the defending champions and win the first NBA Championship for the city of Cleveland. LeBron was named finals MVP. " The Cavs were the first team to come back from a 3-1 deficit."
