  • "Trust me," said Mr. Hart. "Nobody has spent an entire night there since there since the night of the fire. The guest say they can't sleep, and insist on being moved to another room." "Why?" asked Nancy. "I guess you don't know," he said. "I keep forgetting that your know to this town. A family of four died in that fire."
  • Resolution
  • Wake-up Call for room 213
  • Nancy slammed the receiver down. She had been right! Somebody had answered in that room! Her head  began to throb and without knowing why, she reached for a pad and pen and began scribbling. She was surprised to see what she had written: Wake-up call. Seven o'clock. Room 213. It didn't even look like her hand writing! The throbbing in her head stopped as suddenly as it started.
  • The hotel was on fire! She had to get help! She tried to reach the door, but a wall of heat pushed her back. A chorus of groans came from behind her, and she turned to see who it was. From the beds rose four black figures, rubbing chunks of charred flesh from their cheeks as they sleepily opened their empty eyes.
