Andrew Jackson was born in 1767 in the Waxhaws region between North Carolina and South Carolina.
In 1798 Jackson acquired an expansive plantation in Davidson County, Tennessee (near Nashville), called the Hermitage.
Jackson was elected the seventh president of the United States in 1828. Known as the "people's president," Jackson destroyed the Second Bank of the United States, founded the Democratic Party, supported individual liberty and instituted policies that resulted in the forced migration of Native Americans.
Andrew Jackson died at his home (The Hermitage) on June 8th, 1845. Andrew Jackson died from Tuberculosis.
