The village elder tells Ratonhnhaké:ton that it is time for him to become a man and embark on his vision quest to locate his spirit.
Ratonhnhaké:ton purifies himself in a sweat lodge before he begins his vision quest.
He enters the wilderness...
After days without any water, sleep, and very little water, Ratonhnhaké:ton encounters his spirit through an elk. Disoriented and confused, Ratonhnhaké:ton listens to what the spirit tells him and returns home
Exhausted, Ratonhnhaké:ton tells the Elder his vision so it can be interpreted. The Elder listens, then allows him to rest.
Ratonhnhaké:ton sleeps, when he awakens, he will be told what his vision tells of his future, and he will be accepted as an adult in his community.
