  • Aha! Gold is denser, but silver takes up more volume! Eureka!!!
  • He filled a barrel with water and dropped 2 kg of gold inside. He dropped the crown in the same barrel. His theorized that it would fill to the rim if it was gold, but it overflowed!
  • So he came up with something clever:  The crown takes up more volume in the bucket than the gold does, but the gold is denser. He did this while he made lunch.
  • Very well... I shall have him sent to the dungeons, and here's your reward.
  • My lord, the crown isn't pure gold! The smith pocketed some of the gold!
  • He calculated the volume of the crown and the gold, and ran a comparison. He matched 5 kg of real gold with 5 kg of real silver. He threw of his clothes and ran around his house. Then, he burst outside.
  • 5 kg
  • Legends are abound telling that Archimedes ran around the streets of Syracuse yelling eureka.
  •  Eureka!!! I FIGURED IT OUT!
  • He went and told the king about his success and the crown. The great Archimedes has triumphed once more!
