  • Oh thank you for having us Ms T, we are doing well, could be better. 
  • Good morning Mr and Mrs P, thank you for coming today! how are you doing?
  • Right! Can you tell us exactly what happens at school because Marcus is such a nice boy!
  • As you know, we've been having a little issue with Marcus' behavior at school and we are here today to discuss it a bit more and find a common action plan to help Marcus.
  • You are right! he is a nice boy. I just noticed that he has a hard time following insctruction, hits his friends on the playground and uses unkind words sometimes. Is there anything going on at home that I should be aware of in order to help him? 
  • Wow, this is unbelievable!
  • Well, first, I call the behaviour out and talk to him privately. I encourage him to do the right thing and have him sit by me in order to calm himself down. if behavior continues, I send him to the thinking chair alone so he can reflect on his actions and come up with a better way to behave. If all that does not work, I have him as a teacher helper to keep his focus away from certain things. Last but not least, I call the counselor.
  • SO Ms T, how do you handle this situation in the class with the other kids around?
  • Can we please follow the same pattern at home? First call out behavior, then positive reinforcement. Second option, give the child some time alone to calm down and reflect, then give him a productive task and keep using positive reinforcement before using any other disciplinary methods.
  • We will try our best Ms T, he will straighten up. Thank you so much for your patience
