  • 7-The Approach 
  • " I sit at Aibileen's kitchen table at six o'clock that night. We've arranged for me to come over nearly every night until we're finished. Every two days, a different colored women will knock on Aiblileen's back door and sit at the table with me, tell me her stories." pg 299 
  • "First thing a white lady gone do is fire you. You upset, but you will figure you'ill find another job, when things settle down, when the white lady get around to forgetting. " pg 221
  • 8- The Ordeal
  • Don't worry Aibileen she only opened the main part of my satchel. I promise to be more careful next time. 
  • 9- The reward 
  • "Law, that is something. Look at all them pages." Aibileen grins and sits on her stool. "Two hundred and sixty-six of em."pg 430
  • page 266
  • Aibleen has Sketter over lots, talking about the plans of the book. All of the meetings are at Aibleen's at night. This being a safe place where others can share their stories. Skeeter spends her time typing out the stories and making edits. 
  • 10-The road back 
  • "I'd say, and they used the made-up town of Niceville, Mississippi, but who knows?" He halfway covers his mouth, whispers real loud, "It could be Jackson!" pg 470 
  • Skeeter does some research and found some booklets in Mississippi History room. Skeeter kept it in her satchel, however when she forgot it under her seat. Hilly grabbed it. Aibleen's greatest fear came alive since Hilly knows somethings up.
  • 11-Atonement
  • "Why? Why don't you want to see me anymore? Are you going to take care of another little girl?" Her forehead is all wrinkled up, like when her mama fuss at her. Law, I feel like my heart's gone bleed to death." pg 520 
  • Aibleen creates a calm sense of mindset that the Leefolt's won't know it's her that wrote the book. Since the book is being submitted anonymously, no one is going to know it was her. Aibleen also comes to reconization that she was the one who wrote the book, and is proud of herself.
  • 12-The Return
  • "Maybe I ought to keep writing, not just for the paper, but something else, about all the people I know and things I seen and done. Maybe I ain't too old to start over, I think, and I laugh and cry at the same time at this. Cause just last night I thought I was finished with everything new. " pg 522 
  • The book is published. It was submitted anonymously but after it came upon on Mister Dennis's television show.  The talk went around town and everyone wanted copies of the book. 
  • The Help 
  •  Aibleen is stronger now. She accpeted the fact that she lost her job with the Leefolts. Aibleen was prepaing for this time when she started writing the book. Being happy that she taught Mae Mobley the most she can.
  • Aibleen knows in her heart that Hilly we never be a problem with the book again. Since Hilly will fear that everyone is going to know she ate the pie. Aibleen is going to take Skeeter's job with writing the article in the paper about cleaning. She also thinks about writing another book or something inspirational.
  • Mom, we're so hungry.
