Sophia is standing by herself, waiting for her Dad to pick her up. She is upset because she was told that the dress code of the party was formal whilst everyone else is wearing casual clothing. Earlier in the evening, Sophia tried to drown away her sorrows with whiskey. This was a decision made in the heat of the moment, making it a not very sensible decision.
Mmm hehe, I don't like you!! but I don't not like you, lets go!
Oh heyy Liam, didn't realise you were here.
What's up Sophiaaaa?
Welll, I am and I heard you liked me, so lets go for a ride.
Sophia is still upset but begins to cheer up, as she really likes Liam and it would be good to spend some time with him. However, at first, she does not realise just how drunk Liam is, but only begins to realise as they start their conversation. The fact that he is as drunk as he is means that he may not actually like Sophia OR want to drive her home. Even worse, they would be risking BOTH their lives to get in a car with a drunk teenager behind the wheel and in the passenger seat.
Should I catch a ride with Liam? I am already suffering from slurred speech, intense moods, poor concentration, relaxation and slower reflexes from the alcohol.
After rejecting Liam's offer, Sophia begins to think, 'what's the harm in having a little fun?'. This thought went through her head, as she had consumed alcohol earlier and was in a relaxed mood. This was a bad thought, however, the alcohol had prevented the complete flow of movement to her brain and throughout her body.
My decision to drink the alcohol was very clouded and not very smart. I may suffer from internal injuries in the long term, such as: memory loss, internal bleeding and pain, and a greater chance of infection and cancer.
Sophia gets very nervous as Liam approaches her, her heart begins to race. When Liam mentions something about Sophia liking him, she freaks out and defends herself whilst staying a little mysterious. This contributed to Sophia almost making a bad choice, which could have resulted in death or a traumatic experience.
In this diagram, Sophia is identifying the short term effects of her consuming the amount of alcohol she did (which was about four shots). The reason she is suffering from these effects is because the alcohol has entered her body and slowed down the flow of movement throughout her body. For this reason, the frontal lobes in her brain have been affected, and she is now suffering from mood swings, relaxation, and slurred speech. The cerebellum part of her brain has caused her to have poor concentration, lose balance, become uncoordinated, and have slower reflexes.
In this diagram, Sophia is identifying some of the long terms effects of her consuming the amount of alcohol she did (which was about four shots). The reason she is suffering from these effects is because the amount of alcohol she consumed has affected her in the long term, as her brain has not properly developed at seventeen years old. This could also result in other internal injuries. The hippocampus part of her brain could cause her to experience memory loss. The other parts of her body could suffer from internal bleeding and pain, as well as a greater chance of infection and cancer.
