this boy sees this dog and tries not to hit him, should he use his brake handles or backpeddle. which one would make him stop quicker while keeping him and the dog safe.
When using the pedal brake you need to be prepared and have time otherwise you might skid, he is too close to the to dog and is at a risk of skidding and falling,
If he uses the hand brake it would be more convenient because Hand reflexes are usually better than leg reflexes, and fingers are more precise with the amount of force they apply, than feet trying to pedal backwards.
If this young man does happen to use the pedal brake he is at a risk for head injury if he falls, even if he has a crashworthy helmet.
The front end takes the energy when stopping which will keep him safe instead of just stopping and go flying.
