Storyboard Text

  • "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
  • Jesus said this because he did not want the people to be punished for they were doing. He believed they should have been forgiven because they had not intent or knowledge of who he was. He was being merciful on them when they were not returning the favor.
  • "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
  • This is when Jesus speaks to the robbers beside him and tell them of the wonderfulness and peacefulness which is paradise along with heaven. He is saying that even though they were experiencing pain they would be in a better place.
  • "Jesus said to his mother: "Woman, this is your son." Then he said to the disciple: "This is your mother."
  • Jesus was telling his mother that even though he was leaving, she should not be sad, because there were more people to take care of. He also told a disciple that since he was not there to take care of his mother, that his friend must take care of her. He was giving both of his loved ones comfort and someone to look after and be close to.
  • "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
  • This shows Jesus' humanity. It shows how he came to earth to be a human and now is. He says he is thirsty. He had been suffering
  • In this quote you can see God's loneliness. You see how he questions the trust and understanding of his Father. He does not know what to do, he feels rejected.
  • "I thirst."
  • They put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had received the wine, he said, "It is finished;" and he bowed his head and handed over the spirit.
  • When Jesus said "it is finished" he finally understood that his job on earth was done. He fullfilled the need and was ready to go back to his Father in heaven. He did what his Father had told him to do and he was no longer flesh.
  • Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commend my spirit."
  • This is the final saying of Christ. He says this because he finally begins to see what his Father sent him down to earth to do. He is ready for God to take him off the earth and go back to heaven. Christ is in full submission to Christ and gives it all to him.
