  • With the thought of the light  Of the eyes of my Annie. (Line 101-102)
  • Setting
  • And I rest so composedly,  Now, in my bed,  (Lines 14-15)
  • Symbol
  • And narrow my bed;  For man never slept  In a different bed—  And, to sleep, you must slumber  In just such a bed. (Line 48-52)
  • The narrator of this poem is for the lover of Annie. He writes his dying wishes to her.
  • Imagery
  • The setting is set on his deathbed as he is taking his last breaths.
  • Refrain
  • In these lines, Poe talks about how man never slept in a different bed. The bed happens to be the casket in this case.
  • Theme
  • The imagery used in these lines invision the water and how calmly it moves. He also explains the soft sounds emitted from the water.
  • Of a water that flows,  With a lullaby sound,  (Line 39-40)
  • There is no refrain in the poem.
  • The theme is death and the feeling of leaving a loved one.
