Parents meet with teacher to discuss student's overall grades for the past three months and how they can work together to improve his work ethic and grades
Thank you Mr. Collins. We are concerned about Scott as well.
Hello Mr and Mrs Reid, Thank you for coming to meet me with me today about Scott.
Would you like something to drink? Tea, coffee, water?
Please take a seat
As you can see from this ERB standardized test given last month, Scott performed very well. He also does very well in class, helping other students who struggle with classwork. He is able to respond correctly when called upon in class for answers as well.
We are glad to hear that! But we noticed that his grades went down and we imagine that you called us because of that.
Indeed. Humm... He is going to bed at 20:30, but I noticed that lately he spend more time playing Fortnite. So, we could start monitoring the time he spends playing this game or even forbidden it, if he doesn't do his assignments.
However, his grades on the last two summatives show that he is not operating at his full potential. That is why I wanted to meet with you. I spoke with Scott first, but he said that everything is fine, but he is feeling tired. Do you know if something changed or is he experiencing a challenging moment?
Sure. Good idea. Thus, we can monitoring him closely.
Yes, Fortnite can be very distracting and I am afraid that it is interfering with Scott´s performance. What do you think about us creating a daily chart where he needs to list his responsibilities at home (pending assignments, study for tests, etc) , that we will hold him accountable to every day. Both of us would need to sign it daily to ensure he is managing his time wisely.
That would be great. Thank you for giving him the opportunity to improve his grade. We will make sure he studies.
In addition, he can re do the last test, during office hours and up his grade. What do you think?
Thank you for meeting us, and for supporting Scott as you do.
Thank you for coming today. Together I think we have created a good plan to help Scott succeed. We should plan to meet again next month and discuss how the plan is going.
