  • Tommy V. March Sight Words Assessment
  • 8/10 Correct!
  • Students are informally tested on a monthly basis on their sight words. I chose standard 3E that explains the importance of taking assessments. These assessments will measure for progress and understanding as well as evaluate the impact it has on the students learning.

  • Missy, use the word "can" in a sentence?
  • Great job Missy! You got all your sight words correct this month!
  • I'm so proud of all of you for doing a great job this month on your sight words! I have a special surprise for the whole class.
  • Ms. T conducts an assessment with each student. This assessment focuses on each student's progress with proper pronunciation of the sight words that were assigned for the month.
  • Sight Word Superstars
  • Tommy completed an informal assessment based off of pronunciation of the sight words and was able to get 8 out of 10 correct.
  • Extra play time for all of you!
  • Missy completed an informal assessment, using the sight words and forming sentences with them based off her understanding of each word.
  • Can I go outside and play?
  • Ms. T meets back with the class on the carpet and tells them how proud she is of their hard work. She hands out stars for the students who got all of their sight words correct, then offers an incentive to all the students for doing a great job with their assessments.
  • Assessments are needed because they measure the students abilities and give teachers an understanding of what they have learned. Ms. T allows the students to go out for extra play time because they did well on their informal assessments.
