A boy named James was walking along the footpath, looking at his phone with his headphones on.
Oh no! The bus is about to hit me.
James was about to cross but didn't pay attention to the road as he was focused on his phone.
He's right. I could've gotten killed!
What you did was very stupid. You are advised by the law to cross at the pedestrian crossing and be aware of your surroundings. Since you had your headphones on and were looking at your phone, you didn't hear or see the bus. You are lucky you didn't get killed!
He was in the middle of the road and was still looking at his phone.
Thanks for letting me realise I made a horrible mistake. You have to follow the road rules otherwise you are at risk of getting killed! I will try not to do it again and I recommend other people don't do what I did.
I'm happy that you understand
James doesn't notice the big, yellow bus until it honked at him and the bus had to stop suddenly to let him cross.
The adult explains to James what he did was completely wrong and he shouldn't listen to music or look at his phone when he is walking on the road.
James realises what he did was wrong and promises he will never do it again.
