Bruno loves his home in Berlin, but he has to move somewhere else for his father's job.
Will this fence ever end? I want to know who the people are on the other side.
Bruno doesn't like his new house. There's no one nearby to play with!
Hello, Bruno. I have the clothes for your desguise.
You do? Hooray! Shmuel, you're the best!
But when he looks out his bedroom window, he sees many people, all wearing these odd striped pajamas. All except for certain people in uniforms like Father's, and they are holding guns.
You'll always be my friend.
So Bruno decides to go exploring.
Finally, he meets a boy from the other side of the fence. They soon become friends and talk to each other almost every day. Later, when Bruno has to move back to Berlin, he and his friend decide to have one last adventure-- on the other side of the fence.
As the boys explore and try to find Shmuel's Papa, who has gone missing, they are swept into a crowd and are taken to an airtight chamber, where they are never heard from again.
