Yes I have been thinking about that, tell me more.
Hey boss, have you ever thought about engaging in social benefit?
Well it is called CSR or corporate social responsibility and its the principal that companies should contribute to the welfare of society
Wow, that sounds great. How do you think we should go about this?
Well you see, it is not just up to me. We have to remember to look at this through a moral pluralists lens, that means taking everyone's ideas into account and finding what would be in the best interest for the company as well as the companies stakeholders.
Well why don't we just do what the other car dealership down the road is doing for corporate social responsibility?
Oh, I see. So we have to assess our own finances, find out what social engagements we could feasibly participate in, discuss it with the employees, stockholders, and owners, and come up with a CSR goal that benefits society as well as our company.
You can't just merely borrow the notion of morality! Each company is different, so, there can be no consensus on what is "doing good". Moreover, if we choose to just borrow that other companies CSR policies it could force us to extend beyond our legal and economic obligations.
Social gain is the responsibility of churches or governmental organizations, not companies. We need to focus on making more money!
You see, as a company we create social problems like pollution and corporate influence on children, so it is our obligation to help with solving these problems.
