As negotiated at the final surrender of the Muslim state of Al-Andalus, the Treaty of Granada clearly mandated protection of religious rights
the Treaty Of Granada was reversed just over 3 months later by the Alhambra Decree of 1492 and under the new Decree, approximately 40,000 Jews were expelled from Spain with only their personal possessions.
Along with the Alhambra Decree 50,000 Jews were baptized and many of the knew Catholics kept their Jewish traditions ,but later found out by the Inquisitors
In 1494 Tomas De Torquemada retired as Grand Inquisitor and lived in St. Thomas at ávila Monastery
He died in St. Thomas monastery at Avila in 1498 at the age of 78 with a feared name Tomas De Torquemada, The Architect of Torture
