  • In 1850, to resolve lots of south v.s North conflicts, the fugitive slave act was to be enforced to a higher degree due to this act and the slave trade in D.C was abolished 
  • Kansas-Nebraska Act
  • Cause
  • Passed on May 30th, 1854, it gave Kansas and Nebraska the choice to decide wether or not they'd like to allow slavery in their state
  • Effect

  • People deciding to bombard Fort Sumter caused the confederate army to return fire, starting war
  • It restricted the expansion of slavery from going any further in the US than it already had, angering those trying to move from the south
  • Kansas, allowing slavery, would violate the missouri compromise by allowing slavery to go beyond the southern states into the north, angering the anti-slaves in the north
